Sports relief 2016

What a fab day we had on Wednesday! We took part in a variety of sporting activities as part of our fundraising for Sports Relief. We had a multi-sport session in the playground, followed by a dance session in the hall. In the afternoon we went to the field to see how many laps around the cones we could run in half an hour. It was very tiring!

K'nex Workshop

We had a great afternoon taking part in a K'nex workshop at The Historical Centre.  The children were challenged with building a bridge at least 100cm long that  could hold a very heavy box. They rose to the challenge and came up with some amazingly strong designs. Definitely some budding engineers in Beech class!!

Techniquest on 16.3.16

What a brilliant day we had at Techniquest! We explored many exhibits. We also saw a show, where we had to help Dr. Isosceles to find the missing explorer Dr. Monty. We had to solve mathematical clues.

Taking careful measurements.

Today, we carried out an experiment to find out if larger screatures were able to keep warmer longer than smaller creatures. We used a large cup and a small cup, both filled with water of the same temperature. We then recorded the temperature every minute for half an hour to see which cup of water would cool down faster. We had to watch the clock carefully, and read the thermometer accurately!
