Cilfynydd environmental centre
We had a lovely trip today! We learnt about the water cycle. We talked about rivers, and threw dog biscuits into the river Taff to see which part of the river flowed the fastest. Then we did some pond dipping to discover which creatures live in this habitat.

Exploring Pointillism
We have been looking at the work of Georges Seurat and explored his technique of pointillism today. We used felt pens, paint, cotton buds and paintbrushes (both ends!) to explore the technique - we needed lots of patience to create detailed pictures!

Hay Festival
We had a hectic but enjoyable day at The Hay Festival. Our first stop was the Starlight Theatre where a lady from the British Board of Film Classification explained how films were awarded different certificates. We then watched Paddington and discussed which certificate we would give it and why. The children were very observant and asked some thoughtful questions.
We enjoyed a quick picnic lunch and ice cream in the sunshine before heading off to our next workshop - the author Stephan Pastis. He was very entertaining and we all enjoyed finding out how he became a children's author ( he used to be a lawyer!), what inspires him and how he draws the illustrations for his Timmy Failure books.
A great day and hopefully the first of many visits to the festival.
Picnic in the sun!
